FAQs: Joining the Working Group

What’s happening here?

At the ProQuote Film Congress “Family-Friendly Filmmaking” at Berlinale 2023, actress and expert Belinde Ruth Stieve delivered the keynote speech and led a workshop where initial suggestions and wishes for improving work-life balance in the film industry were gathered. Following this, she initiated a working group to continue the exchange on this topic.

ProQuote Film commissioned Belinde to develop a concept with positive impulses that promote concrete solutions and restructuring processes. She created the website “ffd PQF – Family-Friendly Filmmaking” (ffd.proquote-film.de) as a guide and information portal. This site was officially launched at the PQF Berlinale event in 2024.

After a longer break, the working group has reassembled and now meets irregularly, primarily via Zoom.

Are there specific tips on the website?

Yes! The platform offers:

  • Tips & materials for film professionals and productions.
  • Inspirations from practice.
  • Implementation guides for family-friendly filming.
  • A roadmap for organizations.

But it’s best to check it out yourself.*

Why is this important?

Working in the film industry while also performing care work, which is often done by women and marginalized individuals, is still too often an impossibility. As an organization for gender equality, Pro Quote Film is committed to addressing this issue in a sustainable way. This is crucial, as “80% of film professionals (…) consider their job incompatible with having a family.

Who is the website aimed at?

This website is useful for all film enthusiasts, film professionals, and anyone who wants to research this fundamental topic. It is particularly interesting for producers and those directly affected.

What is the working group doing now?

To develop further measures for family-friendly filming, the working group meets regularly via Zoom.

Currently, the working group consists of: Laura Schuhrk and Nina Kronjäger. Gabi Rudolph and Michaela Marmulla are also involved in the working group through their work on the board.
